Definition

AI run identity is the verifiable definition of what an AI run was, independent of the system that executed it.

The Problem

An AI run is a bounded execution event. It is composite, assembled at runtime from model, configuration, context, and parameters.

When the run completes, the assembly is discarded. No record of what the run was survives execution.

No system today establishes a stable, independently verifiable identity for an AI run.

Why Current Tools Fail

Logs describe what happened. They do not establish what ran.

Outputs prove that something happened, not what produced it.

Tracing reconstructs execution. It does not define it.

Observability monitors systems. It does not create identity.

• Identity must be consistent.
• Identity must be independently verifiable.
• Identity must be derived from the source.
• Identity must not depend on interpretation.
